SEIFFE:  In Hopengagen

December 18, 2009

By Ralf Seiffe

Imagine you are scheduled for a dangerous cancer operation and just before they wheel you into the operating room, you discover that the radiologist is a quack and that he’s in cahoots with the surgeon to split fees. Would you stop the procedure and find another doctor with stellar credentials or would you go through with the operation? Any rational person would make sure the surgery was necessary by getting a second opinion. Only a fool would go through with the operation in light of such evidence yet that is exactly analogous to what the president is doing in Copenhagen.

With information that has recently surfaced on the integrity of climate research, some as late as yesterday, it is reasonable to question whether man is the cause of the disease the now-discredited scientists once called named “global warming”. Indeed, it’s prudent to be skeptical of global warming, altogether. “Climate change” may be more the product of wishful thinking and marketing than of science. At this point, the sensible thing to do is to get a second opinion. Using the scientific method in full transparency, we should see if the claims from the so-called scientists are valid.

Regardless of the legitimacy of climate alarm, governments across the globe have embraced this hoax. The fact that leaders of the world’s developed countries are willing to put their economies in jeopardy and make their people permanently poorer on such flimsy evidence indicates there is something in play that is much more important than their citizens’ commonweal.

What that might be has become somewhat more evident this past fortnight. The quarrels in Copenhagen have shown the utility of “climate change” is not in the extrapolation of temperature but in the extraction of wealth. The supposed concern for the environment in posterity is now revealed to be an ugly sham; the true purpose is to extort the productive and reward the parasites and tyrants assembled in Denmark.

How else would one explain our Secretary of State rushing to announce that American taxpayers were in on the plan to transfuse and prop the most notorious regimes across the globe with $100 billion pooled annually? Madame Secretary looked more like an inebriated co-ed induced to jump into a pool at a fraternity dance than the face of American foreign policy.

Not content with Mrs. Clinton’s attempt to calm the extortionate demands of the third world, her boss has now appeared through the generational snowfall piling up in Copenhagen’s streets to save the day. Reports have President Obama prepared to use a combination of charm and Chicago style arm-twisting to get something on paper. Our leader certainly brought his Teleprompters and the spirit of Rahm “Cuffy Meigs” Emanuel but even this appears to have fallen short.

All this comes after the president and his phalanx of lawyers at the EPA outlawed CO2 to insult the United States Senate and to demonstrate our solidarity with the dictators, leftists and tyrants conspiring in Copenhagen. Here or there, the purpose is the same: to increase the coercive power of government and diminish our liberty and sovereignty by swindling us and nakedly stealing from our children.

If we had a president whose first allegiance was to the American people and constitutional government, he would tell the international audience in Copenhagen that he rejects the climate scam in the name of the American people and immediately gavel the meeting closed. Instead, he’s involved in a little misdirection, announcing a new arms agreement with the Russians is “near”. Can’t wait to see what we’ve given up to KGB Comrade Putin so the president could salvage something from the creation of some 175,000 tons of plant food spewed from the engines of Air Force One over the Atlantic Ocean.

The “grave and growing” threat to which the president referred in his Copenhagen speech this morning misidentified the hazard. It is not the fraud of rising or falling temperature that threaten the planet but the fallacy the president and his radical administration hold about their omniscience. They aren’t all-knowing; rather, they are too conceited to see the destruction they are doing to the United States. They are more like a quack doctor and crooked radiologist. Americans should get off the president’s gurney and run away instantly.
